Job summary

Performance Foodservice is seeking an entry-level Driver Trainee to join our delivery team. This role trains to operate a tractor-trailer or straight truck on local and interstate routes to deliver and unload food products safely and efficiently.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma or GED, 0–6 months driving experience, a valid CDL A permit, and are 21+ with a clean MVR and the ability to lift heavy items. This is a full-time, on-site role with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 0-6 months commercial driving experience (preferred)
• Valid CDL A
• Must be 21 years old
• Clean MVR for past 3 years
• Pass post-offer drug test and road test
• DOT Health Card or ability to obtain
• Able to lift 60–90 pounds and handle equipment

Responsibilities

• Attend and complete the Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program
• Ride with driver trainer and assist deliveries
• Perform pre/post trip safety checks per DOT regulations
• Follow DOT regulations and company safety policies
• Inspect trailer and verify freight; complete required paperwork
• Drive to deliver orders per schedule
• Unload goods, obtain customer signatures, and handle payment when required
• Secure equipment and ensure secure freight
• Maintain daily hours-of-service logs
• Perform housekeeping and other duties as assigned
