Job summary

Performance Foodservice is seeking an entry-level Driver Trainee to train and learn how to operate tractor trailers and straight trucks for deliveries across local and interstate routes. You will perform safety checks, document freight, and ensure accurate billing with drivers and customers in a fast-paced environment.

The position emphasizes DOT compliance, loading/unloading duties, and professional customer interactions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 6+ months commercial driving experience.
• Valid CDL A license.
• Must be 21 years or older and meet licensing requirements.
• Clean MVR for past 3 years and pass pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

• Learn to operate tractor trailer or straight truck on local/interstate routes.
• Complete safety checks (pre/post trip) per DOT requirements.
• Follow DOT regulations and company safety policies.
• Inspect and secure freight, complete required paperwork and signatures.
• Deliver orders on schedule and assist with unloading as needed.
• Maintain logs of hours and keep equipment clean and secure.
