FedEx Freight in Kent, WA is hiring for a tractor-trailer operator focused on safe, compliant driving and efficient dock operations. Responsibilities include pre/post-trip inspections, trailer hookups, and accurate logs, with occasional non-driving duties at service centers and turn-points.

The role emphasizes safety, DOT compliance, and strong customer service, with opportunities to perform related tasks as needed. Overnight shifts and varied hours may apply.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Class A CDL or CLP prior to entering job classification.
• Must have acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) according to hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under FMC regulations 391.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down trailers with average lift force of ~100 lbs.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and maneuver in/out of trucks.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations (including doubles/straight trucks).
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch and follow instructions during delays or issues.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding as required.
• Demonstrate strong customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
• Occasionally perform city driver or freight handler duties as needed.
• Use motorized/manual equipment for freight handling as required.
