Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers. Starting pay is $31.26 per hour.

The role requires operating various tractor-trailer configurations, performing safety inspections, and handling freight with forklifts and hand trucks. Ideal candidates have a Class A CDL with hazmat and tank endorsements, one year of relevant experience or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development, and a clean MVR.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with hazmat and tank endorsements; automatic transmission restriction allowed.
• Must have 1 year of experience within the last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have an acceptable MVR per hiring standards and meet DOT 391 regulatory requirements.
• Long combination vehicles experience may apply; valid endorsements required for hazardous materials.
• Basic math and strong written/verbal communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles/triples and straight trucks.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections of equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies as needed.
• Handle freight with appropriate equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Secure freight inside trailers and recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports and communicate with dispatch.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and DOT guidelines.
• Interact with customers to determine pick-up/delivery needs and solicit additional business.
• May be required to perform chaining of tires or duties of road driver or dock employee as needed.
