Job summary

Lt. Col. Luke Weathers, Jr.

VA Medical Center in Memphis, TN seeks an experienced RN Advisor to lead CDI efforts, applying nursing processes to data analysis and documentation review. You will collaborate with physicians, coding staff, and other professionals to improve documentation quality for inpatient and outpatient services. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, an active RN license with TN reciprocity, and CDI certifications.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of CDI experience in acute care hospital settings.
• Licensure: Active, unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state or territory with reciprocity in Tennessee.

Responsibilities

• Lead CDI efforts by applying clinical expertise to review medical records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Serve as a liaison between clinical providers and CDI/coding teams to facilitate documentation clarification and education.
• Analyze documentation for clinical validation and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
• Develop and deliver educational programs for providers and staff on documentation standards, coding implications, and regulatory compliance.
• Support the creation and refinement of CDI workflows, SOPs, and performance metrics.
• Participate in reconciliation activities to align CDI documentation with final coding and MS-DRG assignments.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, including mortality reviews, CMS core measures, and provider engagement strategies.
• Ensure adherence to VA policies and directives.
