VA Medical Center in Memphis, TN is seeking a Medical Records Technician specialized in Clinical Documentation Integrity. You will perform concurrent and retrospective reviews, query providers for clarification, and help implement CDI workflows and training across a high-complexity VA hospital system. The role requires at least 2 years of CDI experience in trauma/tertiary settings, and certification from ACDIS, AHIMA, or AAPC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; Master’s degree optional.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent CDI experience in trauma, teaching, or tertiary hospital settings.
• Certification from ACDIS, AHIMA or AAPC is required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct concurrent and retrospective reviews of medical records to identify documentation gaps.
• Collaborate with providers to clarify documentation through queries.
• Develop SOPs, workflows, and training materials for CDI programs.
• Educate staff on documentation standards, compliance, and regulations.
• Participate in reconciliation of CDI and coding discrepancies.
• Support quality initiatives including mortality reviews and CMS measures.
• Maintain adherence to VA, CMS, and Joint Commission guidelines.
