Job summary

The Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI) in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a seasoned CCEWiN Network Engineer to design, deploy, and secure complex government networks, reporting to the Infrastructure Management division.

The role emphasizes configuring Fortinet infrastructure, managing FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, and coordinating with internal and external teams to ensure reliable 24/7 network operations.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in IT or CS with 3+ years IT experience including networking, systems development and administration.
  • At least five years of progressively responsible network administration/engineering experience.
  • Strong hands-on Fortinet product experience and routing protocol knowledge (OSPF/BGP/EIGRP).

Responsibilities

  • Configure, maintain and optimize Fortinet infrastructure across agencies.
  • Implement security measures and ensure devices run current IOS versions and patches.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and coordinate with teams for secure, reliable network operations.
  • Lead training sessions and serve as POC for Fortinet communications with vendors.
  • Perform special projects and initiatives as assigned.

The successful candidate will serve as a CCEWiN Network Engineer reporting to the Infrastructure Management division. Responsibilities will include:

  • Configure, maintain and optimize FORTINET infrastructure deployment at various agencies.
  • Security measures to ensure IOS on all devices are updated with latest versions and patches;
  • Provide hands‑on troubleshooting and technical support and work closely with internal and external teams to ensure secure, reliable and efficient network operations.
  • Provide training to other team members and take a lead role in troubleshooting sessions. POC for all FORTINET communication with the vendor.
  • Perform special projects and initiatives as assigned.

HOURS/SHIFT. Day - Due to the technical duties of this position in a 24/7 operation, candidate may be required to work overtime and/or various shifts such as weekends and/or nights/evenings.

COMPUTER SYSTEMS MANAGER - 1005D

Minimum Qualifications
  • 1. A master's degree in computer science from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of progressively more responsible, full-time, satisfactory experience in Information Technology (IT) including applications development, systems development, data communications and networking, database administration, data processing, or user services. At least eighteen (18) months of this experience must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity in the areas of applications development, systems development, data communications and networking, database administration, data processing or in the supervision of staff performing these duties; or
  • 2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of progressively more responsible, full-time, satisfactory experience as described in "1" above; or
  • 3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, and six (6) years of progressively more responsible, full-time, satisfactory experience as described in "1" above; or
  • 4. A satisfactory combination of education and experience equivalent to "1", "2" or "3" above. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and must possess at least three (3) years of experience as described in "1" above, including the eighteen (18) months of administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience as described in "1" above.
  • In the absence of a baccalaureate degree, undergraduate credits may be substituted for a maximum of two (2) years of the required experience in IT on the basis of 30 semester credits for six (6) months of the required experience. Graduate credits in computer science may be substituted for a maximum of one (1) year of the required experience in IT on the basis of 30 graduate semester credits in computer science for one (1) year of the required IT experience. However, undergraduate and/or graduate credits may not be substituted for the eighteen (18) months of experience in an administrative, managerial, executive, or supervisory capacity as described in "1" above.
Preferred Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in network administration or network engineering.
  • Proven experience managing enterprise network environments.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with: Firewalls, Routers, Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches, VLANs, VPN technologies, Network monitoring tools
  • Extensive experience with Fortinet products, including FortiGate firewalls, FortiManager, and FortiAnalyzer.
  • Strong knowledge of routing and switching protocols, including: OSPF, BGP, EIGRP
  • Experience with network security concepts, including ACLs, NAT, IDS/IPS, and secure remote access.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Leadership Requirements Demonstrated experience leading technical teams.
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and develop junior engineers.
  • Experience assigning work, reviewing technical implementations, and ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
