Job summary

YMCA Columbus is seeking a dependable leader to oversee daily center operations during assigned shifts. You will guide staff, ensure a safe, clean environment, support members and program participants, and maintain high service standards.

The role includes directing staff, monitoring facilities, handling incidents, and ensuring documentation is complete. A passion for youth development and healthy living is required, with certification within 12 months if not already held.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old
• High school diploma or GED
• At least 1 year of experience in customer service
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• 1+ years supervisory experience
• Experience with computers and software (MS Office)
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid, Emergency Oxygen training required upon hire
• Belief in YMCA values and mission
• Ability to relate to diverse groups
• Proven ability to develop authentic relationships
• Ability to foster a collaborative team approach
• YMCA Leader certification (or obtain within 12 months)

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily center operations during assigned shifts
• Provide direction to staff and ensure programs run smoothly
• Monitor health, safety, and member satisfaction
• Maintain shift logs and incident documentation
• Coach frontline staff on service and engagement behaviors
• Serve as first point of contact for facility issues
• Complete required reports and checklists during shifts
• Assist with tours and welcome desk during peak hours
• Adhere to abuse risk management policies
• Promote youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility
