Job summary

YMCA in Columbus, OH, is seeking a part-time Youth Programs staff member to supervise and engage children across age groups in a safe, nurturing setting while parents use the facility.

You will greet families, lead age-appropriate activities, monitor arrivals and departures, and maintain a clean, organized program space. CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 certifications ensure readiness for emergencies and daily care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; must be at least 18 years of age.
• Passionate belief in the Y’s cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
• Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.
• Must hold current CPR, First Aid, AED and O2; certifications must be maintained throughout employment.
• Recommended trainings include: communicable disease, child abuse recognition and child development.

Responsibilities

• Supervise infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school-age children in a safe, fun environment when parents use the YMCA facility.
• Greet and engage each child and parent, communicate professionally with families and interact with children.
• Monitor drop-off and pick-up procedures and follow related policies.
