Job summary

YMCA of Memphis and the Mid-South is seeking a part-time Center Operations Manager on Duty to support member services, promote programs, and maintain a welcoming, safe facility.

As liaison when leadership is away, you’ll supervise front-desk operations, supervise staff, sell memberships, handle incidents professionally, and contribute to a high-value member experience through teamwork and dependable coverage.

Qualifications

• Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED and First Aid.
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds.
• Previous customer service, sales, or related experience.
• Basic knowledge of computers.

Responsibilities

• Provide staff direction to enhance member services and ensure safety policies are followed.
• Assist welcome center at high-volume times to manage member flow and retention.
• Oversee cleanliness of the building and direct staffing for emergencies; perform hourly checks.
• Work with Membership and Wellness teams to perform shift duties.
• Interviews and tours prospective members; sells memberships and builds member connections.
• Ensure incidents are handled professionally and in line with Y policies; notify Center Director if EMTs are needed.
• Address member concerns with follow-up and communication to leadership staff.
• Follow all YMCA Memphis & Mid-South procedures and policies.
• Maintain open communication with management; make emergency calls when necessary.
• Serve as primary contact for rental groups; attend departmental meetings and participate in tours.
• Represent the YMCA at special events and complete trainings/certifications.
