Job summary

YMCA Columbus is seeking a director-level colleague to lead the Early Learning program, supervise staff, and ensure daily operations align with licensing and grant requirements. You will manage curriculum, hiring, and family engagement while fostering a collaborative team environment.

The role emphasizes relationship-building, cross-functional coordination, and compliance with ODJFS standards during supervisory shifts and events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in child development, elementary education, or related field; and previous experience in a child care setting.
• Must submit medical statement as required by ODJFS standards. Must obtain and keep current training certifications in first aid, communicable diseases, child abuse recognition & prevention within one year as required by ODJFS.

Responsibilities

• Provides supervisory coverage in the center in absence of the director; oversees scheduling of staff and substitutes.
• Assists in interviewing, hiring, orientation, training, and evaluation of teaching staff.
• Oversees design and delivery of curriculum; reviews and approves teachers' lesson plans.
• Keeps the center director updated on issues affecting operations.
• Maintains communication with families via tours, conferences, events, and updates.
• Performs data entry and front desk duties; attends required meetings and trainings.
• Ensures compliance with ODJFS licensing, SUTQ and grant requirements; completes CACFP duties.
• Opens and/or closes shifts to ensure center supervisory coverage.
