Job summary

Cargill in Wichita, KS is seeking a Cattle Procurement Associate to learn and lead procurement in a multi-location network. After training, you will manage live cattle purchases and relationships with producers while gaining exposure to meat production workflows, safety, and compliance.

You will rotate through training in production, scheduling, and HR practices, with travel to support a territory across the U.S. and relocation flexibility as needed.

Qualifications

• Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.
• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business, Economics, Finance or related field with graduation dates between December 2026 and August 2027.
• Willing and able to relocate anywhere in the U.S. for assigned territory.
• Basic understanding of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and live cattle trading activities.
• Strong negotiation skills
• A desire and willingness to work around and with livestock producers
• Demonstrated strong conflict resolutions skills
• Ability to hand multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
• Ability to contribute, both as part of a team and individually
• Strong communication skills - written and oral

Responsibilities

• Timely communication to producers and fellow employees involved with trading, transporting, harvesting and payment of cattle
• Maintain relationships with producers in the associate's territory
• Accurately evaluate quality of cattle and enter estimates into procurement system
• Collect key industry certifications and documentation from producers and verify producer information is accurately represented in the procurement system
