Job summary

Banner Health is seeking a Surgery Scheduler for the Cath Lab at University Medical Center Tucson. The role schedules and confirms patients for procedures, verifies insurance, and coordinates pre-authorizations, working with physicians, nursing staff, and administration.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years in healthcare scheduling and understands Cardiac/Cath Lab workflow. Shift is Mon-Fri 7:30am-4pm in Tucson, with potential occasional float to Main Campus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Approximately 2 years of medical clerical experience, preferably in hospital central scheduling or physician office scheduling.
• Medical terminology is required.
• Proficient with office software and computers and possess the ability to use computerized scheduling systems.
• Ability to maintain accurate statistics and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Receive physician orders and verify insurance; obtain pre-authorizations and pre-certifications.
• Schedule patients for treatments or diagnostic procedures using scheduling systems.
• Enter patient information in scheduling system and maintain records; prepare charts.
• Distribute educational materials to patients and families as needed.
• Provide administrative support to the assigned unit; interface with physicians and staff.
• Handle confidential information and coordinate with clinicians and patients.
