Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Cardiovascular Technologist II to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular disease in an invasive procedure setting. The role serves as a resource to staff in the cath lab, supporting basic diagnostic catheterization and interventional procedures.

The position requires RCIS/RCES/CEPS or RT(R)CI certification within 2 years, a Bachelors degree or equivalent, and at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Certification RCIS/RCES/CEPS or RT(R)CI within first 2 years of hire.
• Minimum 1 year of work experience; invasive cardiovascular tech training recommended.

Responsibilities

• Performs scrub duties and related procedures for cardiac interventions with minimal/no assistance.
• Performs scrub duties for peripheral diagnostics or interventions with minimal assistance.
• Ability to scrub, gown, glove and set up back table with necessary equipment.
• Records cardiac interventions and hemodynamics with accuracy; documents in MacLab event log.
• Maintains ECG setup and rhythm monitoring.
• Maintains basic hemodynamic setup and waveform monitoring.
• Assists in preparation of room with staff for safe, effective patient care.
• Performs required checks on all safety equipment and ensures supplies are ready.
• Transports patients alone or with staff as needed.
