Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Cardiovascular Technologist II to support physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular disease in an invasive catheterization environment. This role serves as a staff resource in a high-acuity cath lab.

Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, RCIS/RCES/CEPS/RT(R)CI within 2 years, and BLS. Minimum 1 year invasive lab experience preferred; radiologic tech backgrounds acceptable with required certs.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
• RCIS, RCES, CEPS, or RT(R)CI certification required within the first 2 years of hire.
• Current BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs scrub duties and related procedures for cardiac interventions, left heart catheterization and right and left heart catheterization with no assistance.
• Performs scrub duties and related procedures for peripheral diagnostics or interventions with minimal assistance.
• Ability to scrub, gown, glove and set up back table with necessary equipment.
• Records cardiac interventions, left heart catheterization and left and right heart catheterization hemodynamics with accuracy.
• Maintains ECG setup and rhythm monitoring.
• Maintains basic hemodynamic setup and waveform monitoring.
• Assists in preparation of room with fellow staff members for safe, effective care of patient.
• Performs required checks on all safety equipment.
• Ensures adequate supplies present to perform procedures.
• Transports patients alone or accompanied by a fellow staff member.
