Job summary

SFU Diamond Alumni Centre is seeking a Catering Captain (Part-Time) to lead on-site events. This role involves managing staff, coordinating timelines, and ensuring service standards are met for plated dinners and receptions.

You will liaise with clients and event managers, drive to event locations, and maintain food temperatures and equipment. Strong leadership and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must drive and have a valid BC Driver's Licence.
• Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent required.
• Responsible Beverage Service Certificate may be required for the applying province.
• Open availability to work morning and evening events.
• Min. 4 years of catering or hospitality management/supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage staff and timelines for event setups and service.
• Engage with clients and Sales Managers to maintain rapport during events.
• Ensure all food is presented, served, and displayed per standards.
• Log and maintain food temperatures.
• Load vans with catering supplies and ensure all items are accounted for.
• Drive to event locations and coordinate staffing for functions.
• Coordinate staff schedules to deliver, serve, and clear events promptly.
• Maintain calm demeanor under pressure.
• Clean up post-event and assist with inventory and closeout tasks.
• Return equipment to catering facility and ensure proper storage.
