Job summary

Howden Re, Edina, MN, is seeking a Catastrophe Risk Associate to support portfolio management and catastrophe modeling within the decision support team. You will work with broking colleagues to enable informed reinsurance decisions and client services.

The role emphasizes strong technical analysis, modeling interpretation, and cross-functional collaboration while operating in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Finance or similar analytical major
• Rising senior graduating by June 2028
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Experience manipulating, cleaning, and analyzing data
• Able to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
• Effective communicator, both verbal and written (PowerPoint and Word)
• Experience in data tools (including SQL, Python, VBA, etc) is a plus

Responsibilities

• Providing strong technical and strategic catastrophe risk management and modeling support
• Providing deep understanding of catastrophe modeling results, assumptions and limitations with vendor and non-vendor models
• Improving analytical processes to achieve greater efficiency and better results for clients
• Establish strong relationships with colleagues, clients and reinsurers
• Communicate analytical ideas with multiple audiences
