Job summary

Howden Re in Edina, MN is seeking a Catastrophe Research & Development Intern to support the North America reinsurance team. You will apply analytics, ML/AI concepts, and data visualization to tackle complex risk problems and client-focused insights.

You will collaborate with analysts and executives, assist in data gathering and model validation, and help prepare client-ready summaries and reports. This paid internship offers learning and exposure to industry-leading catastrophe modeling.

Qualifications

• You’ll be working toward a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a relevant analytical field.
• You’ll need to communicate clearly in writing and in person.
• You must manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
• You’ll be proficient in common office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Assist in analysis projects under guidance of senior catastrophe modelers.
• Gather, organize and review data for catastrophe model validation.
• Perform analyses to extract data sets for client risk exposure.
• Prepare summaries, presentations, and reports for clients.
• Research industry publications to support analyses and client reports.

Education

Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Meteorology, or similar analytical / science major
