Job summary

Applied Underwriters, headquartered in Omaha, NE, is seeking a CAT Modeling Analyst to manage catastrophe exposure data, validate inputs, and apply policy conditions. The role involves using catastrophe modeling software to quantify risk and collaborating to incorporate reinsurance structures into models.

A strong math/statistics background and 2+ years of property CAT modeling are preferred. On-site in Omaha with excellent benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of property catastrophe modeling experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry.
  • Experience modeling natural catastrophe perils and analyzing catastrophe model output.
  • Insurance and/or reinsurance experience and an understanding of underwriting concepts.
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server, Microsoft Excel, and catastrophe modeling software; Verisk Touchstone experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Excel automation, VBA, or other scripting/programming tools.
  • Casualty catastrophe modeling experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and analyze catastrophe exposure data across lines of business.
  • Cleansing, validating, and preparing CAT exposure data.
  • Apply insurance and/or reinsurance policy conditions to data.
  • Analyze client exposure data against different perils.
  • Model and quantify natural catastrophe risk using catastrophe modeling software.
  • Collaborate with team to incorporate reinsurance structures into modeling and exposure management.
