Job summary

Arch Insurance Group Inc. seeks a Claims Examiner, Casualty to actively manage commercial general liability claims for medium severity and related excess policies across the United States.

You will identify coverage issues, develop strategy, and coordinate with carriers, defense counsel, and brokers while reviewing materials and statutes. Travel within the U.S. to mediations and trials is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; 3-5 years experience with primary or excess carrier supporting Casualty claims.
• Casualty claims exam experience with construction a plus; active adjuster licenses in applicable states.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess coverage issues; draft coverage position letters; retain coverage counsel when necessary.
• Develop and implement strategy relative to coverage issues and overall matter strategy.
• Manage resolutions to mitigate indemnity and expense exposures; maintain contact with claims staff, underwriters, defense counsel, and brokers.
• Investigate claims and review insureds’ materials, pleadings and documents.
• Review jurisdictional statutes, rules and case law; review litigation materials; direct counsel as needed.
• Analyze coverage, liability and damages for reserving; prepare reports to senior management; travel for mediations and trials.
• Negotiate resolutions; select and utilize structure brokers; maintain diaries and respond to inquiries.
