Casual Driver, Transportation Services

Position Type: Part‑time

Weekly Hours: As needed; required to work at least one shift per week during the academic year, Monday‑Friday, for the on‑demand university shuttle. Must be available for all large university events (Admissions Open Houses, Family Weekend, Reunion, Commencement) and flexible to work days, evenings, and weekends.

Job Summary

Assist with transporting university employees, students, and visitors in university vehicles (cars, vans, or small buses) around campus, downtown Lewisburg, local hotels, and airports, or other locations up to a 300‑mile one‑way distance from campus.

Responsibilities
  • Drive university vehicles around campus, downtown, and to assigned local stops.
  • Travel to major airports or destinations up to 300 miles one‑way from campus.
  • Help passengers get in/out of vehicles and handle luggage.
  • Provide basic information and assistance to passengers.
  • Keep records and report any accidents or issues.
  • Check email daily and attend required meetings or training.
  • Work all large university events and be available for any additional non‑essential tasks as needed.
Qualifications
  • Must be 21 or older for insurance purposes, with a valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Minimum of two years of driving experience.
  • Flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Pass a motor vehicle record check.
  • Obtain a DOT medical card and successfully complete driver training within 30 days of hire.
  • Preferred: current DOT card; familiarity with Bucknell and the surrounding area; working knowledge of Workday for time‑keeping; working knowledge of Microsoft and Google applications.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to sit and drive for extended periods.
