Job summary

Hadrian is building autonomous factories to reindustrialize America. The Build Engineer, Castings, will own large structural castings from requirements through production, coordinating across Design, Supply Chain, and foundries. The role is based in Kutztown, PA, with potential LA base and up to 25% travel to the foundry.

You will define casting quality, BOMs, and manufacturing sequences, and ensure plans align with naval and customer requirements throughout NPI and production ramps.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of build, manufacturing, or casting engineering ownership.
• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical, Materials, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Ability to translate customer specs into cast requirements and quality levels.
• Knowledge of large steel castings (sand molding, heat treatment, weld repair) and defects.
• Experience reverse engineering castings from incomplete data or legacy drawings.
• Understanding of NDT methods for castings (RT, UT, MT, PT) and acceptance criteria flow.
• Experience structuring BOMs, work orders, and work instructions in PLM/ERP/MES systems.
• Strong GD&T and 3D CAD skills.
• Experience on a foundry floor with melt, molding, heat treat, and inspection teams, and with outside foundries on first article approval.
• Able to work on-site in Kutztown, PA, or be based in Los Angeles and travel to Kutztown up to 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and define product requirements from customer specifications and translate them into casting requirements and inspection needs.
• Reverse engineer castings and cast assemblies to establish design intent and buildable sequence.
• Review models for castability and drive changes before design freeze.
• Own end-to-end casting route from pattern to machining handoff.
• Define high-level processes for each operation and hand to Capability Engineering on time.
