Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is seeking a part-time position in the pharmacy support area to assist with cash handling, customer service, and daily checkout duties. The role includes greeting customers, processing payments, and ensuring patient privacy during transactions.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and at least one year of experience handling funds or cash, with strong attention to detail and reliability.

Qualifications

• Completion of high school or the equivalent plus one year experience, preferably in the receipt and disbursement of funds.
• High school diploma preferred.
• 1 year customer service experience, with receipt and disbursement of funds. Must be able to balance a cash drawer.

Responsabilités

• Greet customers, answer basic questions, check prescription status and direct inquiries to the appropriate staff.
• Operate the point-of-sale cash register, handle cash and card payments, and issue receipts.
• Verify patient information and ensure HIPAA privacy while processing transactions.
• Answer calls and triage non-professional inquiries, entering basic demographics.

Visa Information

TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.

Position Description

Performs routine repetitive clerical work involving receipt and custody of cash and/or checks and frequently involves the operation of a cash register or computer.

Major/Essential Functions

THIS IS A PRN POSITION tocoverfor staff when they are out

• Greet customers, answer basic questions, check the computer system for prescription readiness/ status anddirect medical and insurance inquires to the pharmacy technician or pharmacist.
• Operate the point-of-salecash register, handle cash and credit card payments, and issue accurate change and receipts.
• Locate and pull filled prescription bags and verifybasicpatient identifying information such as name and date of birth.
• Answer phonecalls andtriage non-professional inquires and enter basic patient demographic data while protecting patient privacy under HIPAA guidelines.
• Keep checkout counter clean and assist with general pharmacy duties.

Occasional Duties

• Balance Cash drawer. Tallying the money in the register at the end of a shift. Reconciling transactions receipts and balance to ensure accuracy.
• Call Patients to notify them of their prescriptions being ready for pick up.

Required Qualifications
