Job description

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

1. Be visible and actively greet, engage, and assist customers as a Cashier/Checker.
2. Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
3. Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
4. Adhere to the company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages and work honestly to control loss.
5. Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
6. Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
7. Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
8. Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
9. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
10. Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues to store management.
11. Inspect equipment regularly and notify the appropriate department or store manager of any repair needs.
12. Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products within the department and throughout the store.
13. Comply with all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
14. Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
15. Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
16. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
17. Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
18. Support and assist customers, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
19. Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
