Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • Customer service experience
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
Desired Previous Job Experience:
  • Customer service experience
  • Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
Essential Job Functions:
  • Greet, engage, and assist customers visibly and actively.
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
  • Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
  • Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and/or overages, working honestly and effectively to control loss.
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures, and report unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues to management.
  • Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs needed.
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products within the department and throughout the store.
  • Follow all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
  • Work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments.
  • Manage conflict reasonably, non-confrontationally, and cooperatively.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
  • Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults through direct interaction.
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
