GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Lead Cashier (LC) is responsible for the efficiency of guest transactions and maintaining excellence in cashwrap standards, including cleanliness and overall aesthetics. Experienced in cashiering, the LC assists in training new cashiers and cross-training other associates. This role involves proactively collaborating, leading, and influencing peers. The position focuses on driving loyalty results, including credit, through performance, people, and process management. The Lead Cashier supports the leadership team with register functions, associate exit inspections, and cashier chat in/outs, requiring a passion for guest experience, process excellence, and delivering results by engaging guests on the benefits of our Loyalty Life Cycle and contributing to goal achievement.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Performance

• Meet or exceed store goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty (including credit), and retail shrink.
• Provide exceptional guest service, including greeting, engaging, personalizing service, and recommending products/services.
• Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
• Assist guests with makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to enhance sales and experience.
• Support appointment bookings and in-store events to deliver an outstanding guest experience while achieving sales targets.
• Maintain replenishment, organization, and readiness of cashwrap displays and supplies.
• Ensure prompt, regular attendance.

People

• Support an inclusive environment for teammates and guests.
• Assist leadership with cashier chat ins/outs and associate exit inspections.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, to guests and team members.
• Train new cashiers and cross-train associates in cashiering.
• Engage and influence peers to achieve performance goals.
• Drive cashier accountability and follow Ulta Beauty’s systems and prompts.
• Participate in ongoing training for professional development and sales performance.
• Collaborate with store team to grow the business.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Adhere to dress code.
• Complete transactions accurately, including returns and media control.
• Perform register opening and closing functions as directed.
• Maintain store standards and cleanliness, including at the cashwrap and throughout the store.
• Protect assets and minimize loss by following standards and safety procedures.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• High school diploma preferred.

Experience

• 2 years relevant work experience or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to delegate, multi-task, and problem-solve.
• Knowledge and passion for guest service and sales.
• Experience in addressing guest concerns professionally.
• Proven success in exceeding sales goals and training new hires.

Skills

• Proficient with POS systems and Apple devices.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be 18 or older to hold this role.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Mobility throughout the store during shifts.
• Frequent bending, reaching, lifting (up to 25 lbs.), and other physical activities.
