Job description

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

1. Be visible, greet, engage, and assist customers as a cashier/checker.
2. Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
3. Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders including Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
4. Adhere to company limits on cash shortages/overages and work honestly to control loss.
5. Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
6. Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
7. Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
8. Stay current with advertising and promotions.
9. Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
10. Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
11. Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
12. Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products.
13. Comply with all relevant laws and company policies.
14. Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
15. Manage conflicts professionally and cooperatively.
16. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
17. Follow directions and seek help when needed to resolve issues.
18. Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
19. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction).

Desired Previous Job Experience:

• Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.
