Job description

Job Responsibilities

1. Provide efficient and courteous service to customers at all times, including inviting customers to check out. NEVER sign off the register with a customer waiting; always wait until someone relieves you.
2. Scan and ring customer orders according to company policy and store productivity standards. Ensure items are credited to the correct department and all items are removed from the cart.
3. Receive and be accountable for all funds taken during transactions.
4. Assist the courtesy clerk in bagging groceries.
5. Maintain a neat and clean work station and surrounding area.
6. Follow all state and local laws regarding beer and/or wine sales.
7. Follow all federal laws regarding WIC handling.
8. Adhere to coupon handling procedures.
9. Follow company procedures for check cashing and tendering.
10. Follow policies for Debit Card, Credit Card, Gift Card, EBT Cash, and EBT Food Stamp transactions.
11. Use assigned tills properly according to company policy.
12. Take weekly produce tests as required.
13. Ensure all not-on-file items are recorded and submitted daily.
14. Follow proper procedures for obtaining change.
15. Use the intercom correctly and appropriately.
16. Avoid carrying on conversations with other associates while checking out orders.
17. Understand and be able to explain the ValuCard program.
18. Assist with light stocking duties, such as candy and cigarettes.
19. Sweep the front end regularly.
20. Replace misplaced items to their proper locations.
21. Keep bathrooms neat and clean.
22. Perform other duties as assigned.
