Job summary

Commercial Metals LTD is seeking a cashier to support our recycling centers, fabrication plants, and offices. You will process payments, assist customers, and maintain accurate checkout operations.

The role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and proficiency with 10-key and MS Office tools. Day 1 benefits and competitive compensation are offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years cashier experience.
• Strong customer service skills and a positive attitude.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments.
• Proficient with 10-key and copying/scanning documents.
• Proficient in MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Able to sit/stand for up to 8 hours.

Responsibilities

• Verify cash drawer balance at start and end of shift.
• Process customer payments by ticket from Scale Operator; pay by cash or check for scrap sold.
• Maintain checkout operations per policies; report needed changes.
• Enter A/P Freight Invoices into database.
• Assist customers with Cash Card applications.
• Answer calls and route messages to appropriate contacts.
• Demonstrate reliability in attendance and flexibility to meet business needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Do

• Maintains checkout operations by following DPS and Metal Recycling Entity policies and procedures; reporting needed changes
• Enters A/P Freight Invoices into database
• Assists customers with Cash Card applications
• Answers incoming calls and answers questions/transfers calls as needed. Takes messages and routes incoming calls to appropriate point of contact
• Demonstrates dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
• Performs other duties as assigned

What You'll Need

• Minimum 1-2 years cashier experience
• Must have strong customer service skills and a great attitude
• Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously by effectively prioritizing and organizing assignments
• Ability to use 10-key and utilize a copy machine to scan, copy and fax documents
• Proficient in MS Office programs - Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint
• Ability to sit and stand for duration of shift, up to 8 hours

Your Education

• High School Diploma or GED required
