Job summary

Tompkins Bank & Trust in Ithaca, NY is seeking an Item Processing Associate to balance daily cash letters, submit Host Integration and Federal Cash Letter files, and ensure data integrity. You will respond to image system research requests and prepare deposit verifications.

The role requires strong analytical skills, accuracy in typing, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and banking systems. You’ll back up teammates, handle routine duties under deadlines, and collaborate with vendors to

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree preferred.
• Experience with Bank Regulatory reporting and banking systems preferred.
• Operational or image processing experience preferred.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Proficient with technology; able to type with speed and accuracy.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office and browser-based systems.
• Ability to work under deadlines.
• Able to learn multiple software programs.

Responsibilities

• Balance daily cash letters and meet deadlines.
• Process checks adjustments and monitor Fed Reconcilement.
• Escalate system or hardware issues with vendors.
• Perform account adjustments and reconciliations.
• Adhere to banking regulations and operating circulars.
• Open cases with system providers for Item Processing issues.
• Prepare customer statements for mailing.
• Maintain communication with the coordinator and escalate problems.
• Back up other team members as needed.
