Job summary

Brock & Scott, PLLC in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a Cash Applications Specialist to accurately apply customer payments, maintain AR records, resolve discrepancies, and support month-end close. This on-site role requires five days in the office and attention to detail in processing numerous transactions.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree preferred in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• 2+ years of accounts receivable, cash applications, or accounting experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and AR processes.
• Proficiency with Excel and accounting software.
• Strong data entry and account reconciliation skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Post daily cash receipts (checks, ACH, wires, lockbox, credit cards).
• Apply payments to customer accounts and open invoices accurately.
• Research unapplied cash, short/overpayments, and discrepancies.
• Reconcile cash postings to bank activity and GL accounts.
• Maintain AR records and supporting documentation.
• Communicate payment issues with customers and internal teams.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
• Prepare reports on cash receipts, unapplied cash, AR, and aging trends.
• Process high volumes of transactions while meeting deadlines.
• Follow policies and internal controls; adapt to changes.
