Job summary

The Salvation Army is hiring a Caseworker in Lancaster, PA for the Family Services department. The role requires assessing client needs, coordinating services, and maintaining confidential records.

Immediate availability and a schedule from 8:30am to 4pm are offered, with responsibilities including food pantry support and seasonal assistance programs. Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s in Human Services (Masters preferred), strong communication skills, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Services required.
• Past employment with social/human services.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office.
• Bilingual ability (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Knowledge of cultural flexibility and multi-cultural work with inner‑city populations.
• Detail oriented, flexible, and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
• Willing to serve on boards, committees and panels.
• PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check required; training completed prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Interview clients, assessing situations to determine services required.
• Maintain case history and prepare reports.
• Refer clients to community resources for services and provide information on how to apply.
• Develop and review service plans with clients and perform follow-ups.
• Assist with food pantry as needed.
• Assist with Christmas assistance program and seasonal programs.
• Provide volunteer training to Family Services volunteers.
• Keep monthly records on client data for statistics and outcomes.
• Assist with day‑to‑day functions of the Family Services department.
• Attend trainings/seminars/meetings; perform other duties as assigned.
