Overview
The Salvation Army Children’s Services mission is “Doing the Most Good by Nurturing Children, Strengthening Families and Engaging Communities.” We do this by protecting and caring for every child, building caregiver capacity through trauma informed education and support and partnering with local community organizations that have a heart for foster care and adoption. Responsibilities
- Engage and support birth families and resource parents of foster children in care.
- Transport and supervise family visits, utilizing Visit Coaching and Trust Based Relational Intervention principles to empower parents during visit time.
- Interface with foster parents on a supportive level in caring for foster children attending the visit coaching program.
- Participate in programs that support family reunification services.
- Provide transportation to and from family visits as needed.
- Monitor progress of birth parents and foster children within the visitation program.
- Work directly with The Salvation Army and County Staff in cooperation with family visitation and other appointments (i.e., therapies, placements and/or medical appointments) that are part of the family service plan.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required plus a minimum of two years’ experience working with children in a school, social services or human services setting.
- Strong engagement skills and ability to connect with a diverse population.
- Flexibility in scheduling work hours to meet client needs.
- Understanding and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army; active Salvationist is a plus.
- Mandated Reporter: Must provide proof of completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting PA Act 153 standards within 30 days of employment; recurrent training required every five years.
- Completion of PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
