Job summary

R+L Carriers is seeking a Capacity Procurement Executive II in Birmingham, AL to source and develop partner carrier relationships. You will manage pickups, transit, and on-time delivery while maximizing margins and delivering exceptional service.

Responsibilities include negotiating rates, dispatching carriers, tracking freight, and expanding the carrier network. A Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years in full truckload are preferred, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• High school Diploma or GED.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or similar field with emphasis in Supply Chain, Transportation, Logistics, Sales, Marketing, or International Business preferred.
• 3+ years’ experience working in a full truckload environment.
• Drive, assertiveness, passion, and dedication to succeed in the logistics industry.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
• Ability to handle and prioritize high call volumes and customer inquiries with strong customer service.
• Strong negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work flexible schedule; relocation a plus.
• Experience with McLeod or external load boards; experience in dry van, expedited, flatbed, oversized, refrigerated and intermodal is a plus.
• Excellent written and oral communication in English; bilingual languages a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that customers freight is covered by managing the pickup, transit and on-time delivery
• Present multiple modes of transportation options to your customer base
• Negotiate rates with partner carriers to offer competitive rates
• Dispatch carriers and update loads within the transportation management system
• Maintain contact with carriers and internal partners to keep shipper/consignee informed of challenges
• Track and trace freight movements from origination to destination and resolve issues
• Develop the carrier base by outbound calls to build relationships and expand coverage
• Communicate daily with partner carriers to understand equipment location and haul types
• Leverage carrier lists and load boards to match customer needs with carrier abilities
• Provide exceptional customer service to internal teams, carriers and customers
