Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Unrestricted CSL license required.
• OSHA 10 or 30 hour certification required.
• 8–10+ years of progressive experience in commercial, institutional, or facilities carpentry.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
• Experience estimating materials, labor, and project costs.
• Proficiency using standard carpentry tools and woodworking equipment.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Must be computer literate and CMMS capable.
• Must provide proof of valid Mass driver's license and DOT medical form annually.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily carpentry shop operations, assign work, schedule staff, and ensure quality workmanship.
• Oversee repairs and maintenance of campus facilities by supervising and performing skilled carpentry work for academic, residential, and administrative buildings.
• Plan and coordinate projects, including estimating labor and materials, prioritizing work orders, and collaborating with other Facilities Management administration, trades and campus departments.
• Ensure a safe work environment by enforcing OSHA regulations, College safety policies, and applicable building codes.
• Manage shop operations, including inventory, tools, equipment, and maintenance records.
• Provide excellent customer service by promptly responding to maintenance requests and communicating effectively with faculty, staff, students, and contractors.
• Obtain quotes, coordinate with, and oversee outside contractors as necessary.
• Support emergency response and campus operations, including after-hours emergencies, severe weather, snow removal, and special projects.
• Participates in the on‑call policy.
• Performs other duties as needed to meet the needs and goals of the department and College.
