Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia Health System Physical Plant seeks a skilled Carpenter in Charlottesville to support Facilities Management. You will frame, install doors and hardware, repair millwork, and perform carpentry tasks in wood and other materials across campus.

Required is a high school diploma and at least four years of carpentry experience, plus a valid driver's license. The role emphasizes safety, work orders, and teamwork, with UVA benefits including PTO,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of four years of carpentry and woodworking experience.
• Valid driver's license with at least 2 years driving history.

Responsibilities

• Provide framing, door, window, and hardware repairs; finish millwork and casework.
• Use a variety of diagnostic tools and hand and power tools.
• Perform carpentry repairs identified during facility inspections or customer requests.
• Maintain accurate work order records and timecards.
• Respond to urgent repairs outside normal hours.
• Attend safety meetings and trainings as directed.
• Inform customers of job status and delays; refer to supervisor when appropriate.
• Comply with OSHA and local safety regulations.
• Work productively in a team environment and provide event support.
• Additional job duties may be assigned.
