Job summary

The University of Vermont is seeking a skilled crafts & trades professional to perform a wide range of carpentry repairs, maintenance and construction work within campus facilities. Tasks include fabricating parts for walls, ceilings, floors, foundations, rafters, joists, doors and windows; reading blueprints and building plans to select materials and parts as needed.

Ideal candidates hold a High School Diploma with 4–5 years of related field experience, a valid Vermont driver’s license, and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and four to five years of related field (building/remodeling) experience required.
• Valid Vermont Driver’s License and Driver’s check required.
• Lifting of up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Experience using computers and mobile technology required.
• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment ( PPE ) while performing specific job tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled repairs, maintenance and construction carpentry tasks.
• Read blue prints, sketches, and building plans for information.
• Operate a University vehicle; may operate an aerial lift.
• Promote safety within the Shop and field.
• Provide technical assistance and direction to less experienced carpenters.
