Job summary

University of Virginia Health System Physical Plant seeks a skilled Carpenter to perform carpentry and maintenance for university facilities. The role involves constructing, repairing, and installing structures using wood, plywood, sheet metal, and related materials, with duties including lock installation and tile replacement in various spaces.

Minimum four years of experience in carpentry/woodworking and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Four years of carpentry/woodworking experience.
• Valid driver's license with a clean record and at least 2 years of driving history.

Responsibilities

• Provide framing, door, window, and hardware repairs and finish millwork installations.
• Work with a variety of diagnostic tools, instruments, and hand/power tools.
• Perform carpentry repairs identified during facility inspections or customer requests.
• Maintain work order records and timecards in the system.
• Respond to urgent repair needs outside normal hours.
