Job summary

Opti Staffing in Anchorage, Alaska, is seeking a Carpenter to join a construction team on residential and commercial sites. This full-time role offers a pay scale from entry level to journeyman, aligned with experience.

You will read blueprints, frame and install carpentry components, and work with other trades on site. A valid driver's license and ability to lift 50+ lbs are required; standard 8-hour shifts with overtime as needed and benefits including health, dental, vision, 401(k).

Qualifications

  • Assist with layout, leveling, and squaring on framing and finish work.
  • Inspect and repair damaged framing or structures.
  • Work with other trades on job sites.
  • Keep the job site clean, organized, and safe.
  • Follow OSHA and site safety requirements.

Job description

Carpenter — Full-Time

We're looking for a Carpenter to join a construction team in Alaska, with pay scaled to experience level from entry-level through journeyman. You'll work on framing, finish work, and general carpentry tasks on residential and/or commercial job sites.

Responsibilities:
  • Read and follow blueprints, drawings, and specifications
  • Frame, build, and install structural and finish carpentry (walls, floors, roofs, trim, doors, windows)
  • Measure, cut, and shape wood, drywall, and other building materials
  • Install building materials, fixtures, and hardware
  • Operate hand and power tools safely (saws, nail guns, levels, drills, etc.)
  • Assist with layout, leveling, and squaring on framing and finish work
  • Inspect and repair damaged framing or structures as needed
  • Work alongside other trades (electrical, plumbing, HVAC) on job sites
  • Keep the job site clean, organized, and safe
  • Follow all OSHA and site-specific safety requirements
  • Report progress and any issues to the job site supervisor/foreman
Requirements:
  • Carpentry experience at any level, entry through journeyman (pay scaled accordingly)
  • Working knowledge of carpentry tools, materials, and basic methods
  • Ability to read or learn to read blueprints and building plans
  • Physical stamina: ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand, bend, kneel, and work at heights
  • Comfortable working outdoors in Alaska weather conditions
  • Valid driver's license
  • Reliable transportation to job sites
  • Strong work ethic and ability to take direction and work as part of a crew
Preferred:
  • Formal carpentry apprenticeship or trade school training
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification
  • Framing and/or finish carpentry experience
