Job summary

Maine Veterans' Homes is seeking a part-time Cook at our South Paris home. You will prepare nutritious, delicious meals for Veterans, following established menus and dietary needs, while ensuring safety and quality in a warm, compassionate environment.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in meal preparation and cooking.
Healthcare or institutional cooking experience preferred.
Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices.
Basic computer skills.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to understand and respond to residents' needs and inquiries in English.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve high-quality meals for residents according to established menus and recipes.
Prepare meals that meet a variety of nutritional and therapeutic dietary needs.
Follow safe food handling, sanitation, and infection prevention practices.
Ensure meals are prepared and served on time while maintaining high standards for quality and presentation.
Help create a positive dining experience for our residents.
Work collaboratively with the dietary team to keep kitchen operations running smoothly.
Provide direction and supervision to Food Service Workers in the absence of the Dietary Manager.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
