Job summary

Maine Veterans' Homes is seeking a Part-Time Food Service Worker to join our dining and service team in Maine. The role includes a flexible day/evening schedule with approximately 20–24 hours per week, designed to accommodate candidate availability.

You will prepare and serve meals, maintain serving areas, and provide outstanding service to residents, families, and staff while upholding food safety standards in a warm, team-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Previous food service experience is helpful but not required—we’re happy to train the right candidate!
• Strong customer service and communication skills are essential.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, dependable, and able to work a flexible schedule that includes both day and evening shifts.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals according to established menus and dietary guidelines.
• Set up and maintain serving areas.
• Deliver excellent customer service to residents, families, and staff.
• Wash dishes and maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen and dining area.
• Assist with food preparation and stocking supplies.
• Follow all food safety and infection control standards.
• Work collaboratively with the Dietary team to provide exceptional service.

Position Details

We are hiring a Part-Time Food Service Worker with a flexible combination of day and evening shifts.

Typical schedule may include:

• Day shifts: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
• Evening shifts: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
• Approximately 20–24 hours per week (hours may vary based on department needs and candidate availability).
