Maine Veterans' Homes is seeking a part-time Cook at our South Paris home. You will prepare nutritious, delicious meals for Veterans, following established menus and dietary needs, while ensuring safety and quality in a warm, compassionate environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in meal preparation and cooking.
• Healthcare or institutional cooking experience preferred.
• Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to understand and respond to residents' needs and inquiries in English.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve high-quality meals for residents according to established menus and recipes.
• Prepare meals that meet a variety of nutritional and therapeutic dietary needs.
• Follow safe food handling, sanitation, and infection prevention practices.
• Ensure meals are prepared and served on time while maintaining high standards for quality and presentation.
• Help create a positive dining experience for our residents.
• Work collaboratively with the dietary team to keep kitchen operations running smoothly.
• Provide direction and supervision to Food Service Workers in the absence of the Dietary Manager.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
