Job summary

SCI in Fort Worth, TX seeks a Funeral Attendant to perform a variety of manual and office tasks before, during, and after funeral services to ensure events run smoothly. Duties include setting up ceremony rooms, greeting families, and assisting with deceased preparation; may drive families and operate vehicles.

No prior experience is required; a High School Diploma and a valid Texas driver license are needed. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work evenings/weekends is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Texas driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• No prior work experience required; funeral industry experience preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions given over the phone or in person.
• Ability to use a personal computer and type.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with others.
• Ability to show kindness and compassion for the deceased and their families.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; push/pull up to 200 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Prepare casket and deceased for visitation or funeral services.
• Prepare rooms for services, arrange chairs, guest books, flowers, keepsakes.
• Greet visitors and provide programs and funeral services information.
• May serve as pallbearer and drive families to cemetery site.
• After services, removal, cleaning, and proper storage of company property; packaging and delivery of family mementos.
• Answer phones and screen callers; notify staff and escort guests to rooms.
• Maintain reception area and refreshments; handle mailroom tasks and deliveries.
• Transport documents and family mementos using company vehicles; may transport deceased to funeral home.
• Vehicle care: wash, vacuum, fuel and ensure vehicles presentable.
