Job summary

Providence Residential Care (RCFE) & Kalusugan Homes (ARF) are hiring caregivers/DSPs. You will support adults with developmental disabilities in daily living activities within residential settings, encouraging choices and self-advocacy.

Requirements include a valid California driver’s license or ID, HS diploma or GED, background check, and in-house orientation. DSP certification is desirable; 1+ year experience preferred. Pay ranges $18–$20/hour.

Qualifications

• Valid California Driver's License or California ID.
• Background check completed as part of pre-employment requirements.

• Direct Support Professional Certification Level 1 and 2 desirable.
• Minimum one year experience in a residential setting with adults with developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as a role model and encourage positive interactions.
• Assist with activities of daily living and mobility exercises.
• Assist with grooming, personal hygiene, and medication administration.
• Document incidents and maintain progress notes and data counts.
• Maintain open communication with individuals, staff, and administration.
• Participate in training and staff meetings.
• Help with meal preparation, housekeeping, and safe home environment.
• Provide care in residential settings with person-centered support.

Providence Residential Care (RCFE) & KALUSUGAN HOMES (ARF) IS HIRING CAREGIVERS / DSP's!

The Direct Support Professional provides support to adults with developmental disabilities in activities of daily living. While working in residential settings, the direct support professional encourages individual choices and self advocacy, interpersonal communication skills, problem solving abilities, money management skills, and community integration. The goal of the direct support professional is focused on enriching the life of each individual they support.

Primary Accountabilities include:

• Act as a role model and encourage positive interactions with others.
• Work with individuals to encourage positive choices
• Become familiar with the program plan for each individual in the facility.
• Understand behavior modification techniques and how to correctly implement them.
• Understand and assist individuals in exercises designed to improve or maintain, mobility range of motion and self-help skills.
• Document incidents that occur and maintain current progress notes and data frequency counts on each client assigned to them.
• Attend necessary staff meetings and in-service training.
• Assist individuals in all areas of grooming and personal hygiene skills.
• Assist with basic medical treatment as prescribed.
• Assist in medication administration and monitoring and ensure proper documentation of such.
• Ensure open lines of communication with individuals, staff members, and administrator.
• Assist in supervision of meal preparation and housekeeping, as assigned.
• Have the ability to exercise mature judgment and relate to individuals in a warm, caring manner.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and safe home environment for individuals residing in the home.
• Participate in recreational activities in a variety of settings.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Have a valid California Drivers License or California ID
• Complete pre-employment requirements including in-house training and orientation
• Complete a background check
• High School Diploma or GED
• Direct Support Professional Certification Level 1 and 2, desirable.
• Minimum one year experience in a residential setting working with adults with developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with charting, medication administration, and positive behavior support.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18 - $20 per hour
