Job summary

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Career Advisor. Reporting to the Director of Career Services, the Career Advisor will provide holistic 1:1 career counseling to students and alumni on exploration, planning, job/internship searches, resume/letter review, and interview skills.

The role also includes facilitating workshops and career events, collaborating with employer relations, and supporting student workers. Evening/weekend hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• At least two years of experience in higher education, career/workforce development, or related field.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Exceptional customer service and professionalism.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic 1:1 career counseling and advising to students and alumni on career exploration, job/internship search, resume and cover letter development, and interview preparation.
• Facilitate career-related workshops and events.
• Collaborate with Employer Relations to stay updated on workforce trends.
• Implement data collection strategies to assess impact of services and programs.
• Represent the Career Services Center at admissions events and orientation programs.
• Supervise and train student workers.
• Engage in ongoing professional development in career advising.
• Occasional evening and weekend hours required.
