Job summary

Northwest Shoals Community College is seeking a Workforce Development Advisor to coordinate career development programming, provide advising to Talent Search participants, and connect students with in-demand careers through partnerships with business, industry, and schools.

The role collaborates with college leadership to stay informed about current jobs, plan programs, bootcamps, and work-based learning opportunities, supporting student success and access to postsecondary options.

Qualifications

• Oversee career development programming.
• Coordinate business and industry tours for participants.
• Establish and maintain rapport with business/industry reps and target schools' CTE directors, counselors and career coaches.
• Provide advising services to participants at secondary target schools.
• Stay informed about current in-demand jobs, apprenticeships and industry trends with college leadership.
• Coordinate program activities and curriculum to promote skilled trades and work-based learning.
• Coordinate skilled trades bootcamps.
• Coordinate guest speakers employed in national career clusters.
• Coordinate resume building and LER/workshops.

Responsibilities

• Attend Trio conferences and training opportunities in workforce development.
• Collaborate with Talent Search leadership to plan Pathways to Paychecks financial literacy events.
• Foster teamwork and shared success with Talent Search staff.
• Assist with expanding access to distance education, pre-apprenticeships and industry-recognized credentials.
• Assist with developing Academic Career Pathway plans.
