Job summary

Star of Hope is seeking a Workforce Development Coordinator I to advance clients toward living wage employment in Houston. You will coordinate workforce programs, support career planning and employer engagement, and assist with follow-up and retention.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree and 2–3 years in workforce training, plus strong interpersonal and organizational skills. You will work in a fast-paced, Christ‑centered environment serving homeless men, women and children.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; 2–3 years in workforce training and development preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills to engage employers and clients.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Strong oral and written communication skills across diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to motivate others and work in a fast-paced, Christ-centered environment.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License with acceptable driving record and insurance may be required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement a workforce development program for client readiness and placement.
• Assist in building employer partnerships and engagement strategies.
• Provide job search assistance and referrals to training providers and workshops.
• Develop and monitor training programs leading to meaningful employment and housing stability.
• Coach clients to enhance soft skills and pursue additional trainings/education.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and partner organizations to expand opportunities.
