Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Department of Dermatology in Wexford. Hours are Monday–Friday daytime, with no evenings or weekends. Responsibilities include back and front office duties, patient flow, vitals, phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic clinics procedures under physician supervision.

High school diploma or equivalent required. CPR per AHA standards, basic computer skills, and medical terminology knowledge are essential. Prior MA experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR certification required per AHA standards.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
• Previous Medical Assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient records in compliance with HIPAA and regulations.
• Gather lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referrals, schedule appointments, verify insurance, manage charts.
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain infection control, handle inventory.
• Manage patient flow, assist with walking, transfers, vital signs collection.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic lab work; document in medical record.
• Comply with OSHA/CLIA and PA Health Dept rules; uphold confidentiality.
• Under physician supervision, administer injectable medications and vaccines.
