Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the Orthopaedic Surgery team in Oakland, PA. The role focuses on back-office duties with patient care responsibilities and travel to nearby offices as needed. Hours are Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4pm, with no evenings, weekends, or holidays.

Applicants with prior Medical Assistant experience are preferred and will be placed on the Medical Assistant Career Ladder based on experience and education. Travel may be required to support staffing needs.

Qualifications

• Previous Medical Assistant experience preferred.
• Ability to manage front/back office tasks.
• Strong attention to HIPAA regulations and patient privacy.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient records in accordance with HIPAA and regulations.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports and schedule/verify appointments; manage patient demographics.
• Prepare exam rooms, maintain infection control, and restock supplies.
