Job summary

Educational Data Systems, Inc. seeks a Career Specialist to build relationships with community organizations and connect jobseekers to opportunities.

You will provide customer-centered services to support workforce development and flexibly schedule in-person or virtual sessions to meet partner needs. You will disseminate job information, coordinate with the central hub, and participate in outreach to boost program awareness.

Qualifications

• Experience in business, sales or training.
• Interpersonal skills.
• Experience in a team-oriented environment.
• Bachelor's degree or related experience.
• Experience working with unemployed, underemployed, displaced workers, veterans, or other economically-disadvantaged populations.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and document all aspects of services provided.
• Demonstrated communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
• Valid Driver’s License, automobile and clean driving record required.
• Ability to maintain flexibility as needs of contract or contractor require.
• Must be willing to work evening and weekend hours.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with community-based organizations to connect jobseekers to opportunities.
• Provide customer-centered services to enhance workforce development activities for jobseekers.
• Keep a flexible schedule to meet customer and community partner needs.
• Services may be offered in person or virtually depending on customer and community partner’s needs.
• Answer questions in a computer lab setting including Career Resource Center.
• Maintain knowledge of state policies, local guidelines and regulations.
• Disseminate information on available job opportunities to community-based organizations and jobseekers.
• Coordinate activities with central hub and assist in recruitment and placement activities.
• Increase program awareness and participation through outreach at partner locations and open office hours.
• Meet performance reporting criteria on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.
• Identify and develop partnerships with new agencies in collaboration with Outreach & Business Service Manager.
• Participate in community functions representing CareerLink.
• Document all participant contacts and activities in Commonwealth system of record with case notes and post-placement follow-up.
• Provide career guidance and labor market information to jobseekers.
• Assist with directing and registering clients to PA CareerLink services to increase enrollments.
• Provide follow-up activities and reports as requested.
